The Mages Guild would like to say it has formal control over all of the arcane spellcasters of the world, but there are some rather powerful exceptions. The Green Dragon Tribe, a semi-nomadic group that tends to keep to the thickest of forests, are said to be violent demon worshiping anarchists, although how much of that is in fact true and how much of it is the propaganda of the Mages Guild to try to convince some Church to crusade against them, well, let’s just say that the Mages Guild has control issues.
Nevertheless, the Green Dragon Tribe is charged with using illegal magic and is believed to practice an ancient naturalistic religion. The most famous of the tribe is probably the young Kinsera “Kinsy” Qualdoer (CN female half-elf, sorcerer 4), who it is said left the forest to try and convince the civilized world that her tribe was no threat. Apparently she failed at that, although she did succeed in charming royalty wherever she went. Unfortunately she was blamed for setting the city of Dunshaven on fire and almost burned at the stake as a witch, and is said to have disappeared soon after.
Despite moving around a lot, the people of the Green Dragon are neither primitive nor uncivilized as attested to by their advanced knowledge of herbal medicine, natural dyes and fabrics, and ancient arcane magic. It is rumoured that the tribe is the result of elf and nymph crossbreeding, though it is unknown if such is even possible.
The current leader of the Green Dragon Tribe is Vanjya (NG female elf, druid 8) who presides over the Orange Order, the druidic council that governs the tribe. Oddly enough, she seems to be a bit of a hermit, and is said to spend most of her time in the forests of Winterfall, where the Mists of Rust keep out unwanted visitors. The centre of Winterfall is said to be marked by a massive, centuries old orange tree that is said to be haunted by the spirits of dead druids or possibly demonic spirits.
